Terms and Conditions
1. General
Bright Education AB, organisation number 559449-1002 ("Bright"), provides a service through which users can purchase course literature in the form of e-books and use AI-powered study tools (the "Service"). The Service is available under different subscription plans, including a free tier and a paid Pro plan, with access to certain features depending on the plan selected. To access the Service, the user must accept these Terms and Conditions, which constitute an agreement between the user and Bright regarding the use of the Service. By activating a user account, the user agrees to be bound by these terms. Bright will not save a copy of this agreement. These terms are governed by the Swedish Distance Contracts Act (distansavtalslagen, SFS 2005:59) and applicable EU consumer protection legislation. Any term in this agreement that is less favourable to the consumer than what follows from mandatory law shall be without effect against the consumer.
2. Age Limit and Account Eligibility
To be eligible to enter into an agreement with Bright, create a user account, purchase a book, and use the Service, the user must be at least 18 years old or otherwise legally capable of entering into agreements under Swedish law. The user must provide Bright with accurate information about themselves, including contact details. The user must provide a valid payment method where required.
3. Registration of User Account and Account Settings
To use and access the content of the Service, the user must register and create a user account. A valid email address is required to register an account and use the Service. Users can change contact details such as email address, password, and payment method under Account Settings on Bright's website brighteducation.io.
By registering an account or logging into Bright, the user allows events to be recorded in connection with the account. These events are recorded to improve the user experience. The user is responsible for ensuring that no unauthorized person gains access to their login credentials or passwords.
By registering an account and accepting these terms, the user allows Bright to send emails for marketing purposes. The user can opt out of receiving these emails at any time, after which Bright will cease sending them.
4. Technical Requirements, Compatibility, and Interoperability
The Service can be used via the user's computer, tablet, and/or mobile device and requires an internet connection. Recommended technical requirements and supported devices are described on Bright's website at brighteducation.io. Bright is not responsible for errors or delays due to insufficient equipment, software, or internet capacity on the part of the user. The user is entitled to register and use the Service on a maximum of three (3) devices per user account. Bright reserves the right to change both the number of devices and the type of device on which the user may access the Service.
Compatibility: The Service is a web-based platform accessible through standard modern web browsers (such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge). No specific software installation is required beyond a compatible browser with JavaScript enabled.
Interoperability: The Service does not require integration with third-party software for standard use. Content generated within the Service (such as summaries, flashcards, and quiz questions) is accessible exclusively within the Bright platform and is not designed to be exported to or interoperate with external learning management systems unless Bright explicitly states otherwise.
Technical protection measures: Bright applies technical restrictions to protect its content and platform, including restrictions on downloading, copying, and distributing e-books and AI-generated content. These measures are in place to protect Bright's and its suppliers' intellectual property rights. Users may not circumvent or attempt to circumvent these technical protection measures.
5. Subscription Plans
The Service is available under the following plans:
Free Plan: Access to a limited set of features at no charge, as specified on Bright's website at brighteducation.io.
Pro Plan: A paid subscription providing access to the full suite of AI-powered study features. The Pro Plan is available on a monthly or annual billing basis. Features available exclusively under the Pro Plan may include, but are not limited to, advanced AI-generated summaries, unlimited quiz and flashcard generation, AI Chat, Podcast, and priority access to new features. The specific features included in the Pro Plan, together with current pricing, are described on Bright's website and may be updated from time to time. Bright will inform users of any material changes to plan features in advance.
6. Pricing Information
Current prices for all plans, including the Pro Plan, can be found on Bright's website brighteducation.io. All stated prices include VAT where applicable.
For the Pro Plan, monthly and annual pricing is available on brighteducation.io at the time of subscription. The annual plan also displays the equivalent monthly cost.
Prices may vary depending on payment method or region. Bright reserves the right to change prices and will inform active subscribers of any price changes via email or their user account at least one month in advance of the change taking effect. Continued use of the Service after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.
7. Payment
One-time purchases (e-books): Payment is made at the time of purchase, and the user is charged immediately after completing a purchase.
Pro Plan subscription: The Pro Plan is a recurring subscription billed either monthly or annually depending on the billing cycle selected at the time of subscription. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled in accordance with Section 9. The subscription fee is charged automatically at the start of each new billing period using the payment method on file. Bright reserves the right to refuse specific types of debit or credit cards. Bright collaborates with Stripe, a third-party payment provider, that handles payment processing. By subscribing, the user accepts that payment data is handled in accordance with Stripe's terms and privacy policy. Failure to process payment may result in suspension of access to the Pro Plan. Before any order that creates a payment obligation is confirmed, the payment obligation will be clearly displayed to the user, and the user must explicitly accept the obligation to pay before the subscription is activated, in accordance with Chapter 2, ยง9 of the Distance Contracts Act.
8. Access Period
E-books: By purchasing a book, the user gains access to the book for a period of five (5) years from the date of purchase, which Bright defines as lifetime access. After this period, access to the book will cease. If the user purchases a book on a different access period, the access period stated in the purchase receipt governs access time.
Pro Plan: Access to Pro features is valid for the duration of the active subscription period. Upon cancellation or expiry of the subscription, the user's account will revert to the Free Plan and access to Pro-only features will cease at the end of the paid billing period.
9. Subscription Management โ Upgrades, Downgrades, and Cancellation
Users may upgrade to the Pro Plan or cancel/downgrade back to the Free Plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately. Cancellations must be submitted before the next billing date to avoid being charged for the following period. To cancel, the user navigates to brighteducation.io/en/payments, clicks "Manage", and follows the steps in the Stripe-hosted subscription management page to cancel their subscription. Upon cancellation, the user will retain access to Pro features until the end of the current paid billing period, after which the account will automatically revert to the Free Plan. Cancellation does not entitle the user to a refund for the current billing period, except as provided under Section 12 (Right of Withdrawal).
Automatic renewal: The Pro Plan renews automatically at the end of each billing period. It is the user's responsibility to cancel before the renewal date if they do not wish to continue.
Downgrading to the Free Plan takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Content or data created under the Pro Plan will remain accessible subject to the Free Plan's feature limitations.
10. Changes to Service Terms
Bright reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Users will be informed of changes via email or their user account at least one month in advance. If a user does not accept the changes, they may cancel their subscription or stop using the Service before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of any change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Order Confirmation
Upon entering into a subscription agreement or completing a purchase, Bright will send the user a written confirmation of the agreement by email within a reasonable time, and no later than when the service begins to be performed. The confirmation will be sent in a durable, readable format and will contain a summary of the key terms of the agreement, including the plan selected, the price, billing cycle, and information about the right of withdrawal.
